Data platform engineer

The Data team at Vias Institute is working to develop scalable data applications that can be integrated as cloud services into our customers' workflows. We integrate different types of data sources from our own applications, open portals or partners, and process them to gain new insights using modern algorithms.

As a Data Platform Engineer :

• You are responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the big data cloud platform of Vias Institute.

• You will develop high-performance pipelines for the integration of big data with various analytical services, both for internal and external customers.

• Together with the data scientist, you will ensure the implementation of machine learning use cases.

• You have a degree/master's degree in computer science, industrial engineering or you can prove a solid experience in the field.

• You have experience as a developer in Java or another functional programming language of general interest and object-oriented.

• Experience with one of the following technologies or cloud platforms is an asset: Apache Spark, Scala, Python, R., AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• You have general knowledge of data pipelines, ETL processes, SQL/no-SQL database systems, big data storage/processing technologies and agile software development.

• Knowledge of web services and REST is an asset, as is Linux & Bash programming.

• Finally, you are customer-oriented and enjoy working in a team.
