Why do we recruit?
The Iris Hospitals South offer their employees the opportunity to develop and grow through training. As a result, several colleagues have registered for the 600 project (a training project for care assistants or nurses, specifically aimed at employees in the public health sector). That is why we are looking for 2 nurses to join our team of the T12 department.
What pathologies on T12?
The T12 Internal Medicine Department also includes a stroke unit for optimal treatment of stroke patients. Patients, who may or may not have had a thrombolysis performed in the emergency department, are now transferred to this specialized cerebrovascular unit. Here, increased permanent supervision and adapted specialized care are ensured.
As a nurse in the stroke unit, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team within our NCV (neuro-cardio-vascular) division. Our stroke unit currently has 4 beds equipped with monitors and a central reading point for the parameters.
What does the job entail?
As a nurse at T12, you will provide general and specific nursing care. On some days you will be deployed in the internal medicine department with 22 beds.
⦁ Taking care of patients: nursing operations, monitoring the parameters, preparing the medicines according to medical prescription, assisting the doctor and providing hygiene and comfort care.
⦁ Quality monitoring: registering patient data, parameters and actions performed (e.g. VG-MZG), participating in the briefings, participating in the clean-up and replenishment of the various areas in the department, etc.
⦁ Informing, supporting and guiding patients and their loved ones.
On other days, you will be assigned to the stroke unit, where you will closely observe stroke patients in order to restore or stabilize their state of health.
⦁ Accompanying the patient during his care pathway: from admission to discharge, including accompaniment during various examinations (scanner, thrombolysis, etc.).
⦁ Providing specific care to the patient (in addition to traditional care): This includes: taking the parameters every fifteen minutes during the first hours, performing neurological scores, etc.

⦁ You will be supervised by Patricia Blondelet, head nurse, and Amandine Sion, deputy head nurse.
⦁ The unit has 18 nurses, 3 care assistants, 1 logistical assistant and 1 administrative assistant.
⦁ You will work at the Etterbeek-Ixelles campus in Ixelles.

Your education
⦁ You have a Bachelor (graduate) in nursing, endorsed by the Medical Commission of Brabant.
⦁ You have received training in stroke care or are willing to follow one.
Your experience and knowledge
⦁ You already have experience or are looking for a first or new challenge.
⦁ Experience in neurology or cardiology is an asset.
⦁ You have a very good knowledge of French. You are able to understand the patient's needs and communicate with your colleagues.
Your skills
⦁ You are able to keep your composure in critical situations. Keeping a cool head allows you to respond quickly and efficiently and set priorities without compromising the quality of care or communication.
⦁ You can manage your time and priorities in such a way that optimal follow-up of patients is ensured.
⦁ You are able to actively analyze, formulate proposals and collaborate. Exchanging ideas, listening and co-creation are an integral part of daily life at T12.

⦁ Schedules between 7 am and 8.30 pm. For the stroke, during the day from 8 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. The night team is composed of 2 permanent nurses.
