Job description

A Nurse (m/f/x)
For a full-time permanent contract (possibility of part-time min. 19 hours/week)
What does the job consist of?
Unit T31 is a 26-bed infectious oncology medicine unit. As a nurse, you work closely with a multidisciplinary team of nursing assistants, logistics assistants, secretaries, doctors, dieticians, physiotherapists, social workers and students.
You will provide comprehensive, humane and safe care for patients confronted with complex and sometimes emotionally heavy pathologies. You will provide nursing and technical care in accordance with medical prescriptions, assess the state of health of patients, anticipate risk situations and intervene independently in the event of an emergency, while waiting for the doctor. You prepare, administer and monitor treatments, adapt medical devices according to clinical evolution and assist the doctor during specific technical procedures.
You will ensure the comfort, hygiene, nutrition and support of patients throughout their care pathway, from preparation for examinations to the organisation of discharge or transfers. As a key player in the continuity and quality of care, you will ensure the traceability of data, contribute to the care plan and work closely with the multidisciplinary team.
In addition to technical care, you play an essential role in listening, informing and supporting patients and their loved ones, particularly in moments of vulnerability, announcement or distress. You will also participate in the supervision and training of students, in compliance with quality standards and the values of the hospital.
The T31 is a pilot unit of the C.A.R.E UP! project, in which the organisation of nursing work has been redesigned in order to better distribute the workload and enhance the skills of each person. As such, you actively participate in the organization of the day and in the consultation within the team.
Your main missions include:
· Ensuring the quality and continuity of care : providing technical, relational and educational nursing care adapted to the needs of patients, in compliance with protocols, safety rules and the quality approach.
· Exercise a clinical leadership role : coordinate care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, participate in clinical decisions, be a force of proposal in the improvement of practices and the organization of the service.
· Supervise and support students and new employees : ensure the reception, tutoring, transmission of knowledge and evaluation of skills during internships, in a logic of professional development and quality of care.

· You will be supervised by Anne Spilleboudt, head nurse and Mélisande Vander Elst, deputy head nurse
· You will join a team of 18 people made up of nurses, nursing assistants, logistics assistants, secretary.
· You work in unit T31 at our Etterbeek-Ixelles site located at Rue Jean Paquot 63 in Ixelles.

Your education
· You are in possession of a Bachelor's degree in nursing stamped and registered by the Medical Commission of Brabant.
Your experiences and knowledge
· A first experience in a care unit is an asset but young graduates are also welcome.
· You have a good knowledge of Dutch: You are able to understand the patient's needs and communicate with your colleagues
· Your computer knowledge allows you to ensure optimal follow-up of files.
Your skills
· Ability to communicate in a clear, empathetic and structured way with patients, relatives and the entire multidisciplinary team, promoting continuity and quality of care.
· Ability to organize, prioritize and coordinate care independently, including in emergency situations, while actively contributing to team dynamics and patient safety.
· Ability to work independently while fully in line with a logic of collaboration, mutual support and co-responsibility within the unit.
· Ability to transmit knowledge, supervise nursing students and support new employees, by adopting a pedagogical, benevolent and structuring posture.
· Spirit of initiative in the identification of clinical and organizational issues, with a constructive approach oriented towards the continuous improvement of practices.
· Flexibility and responsiveness to changes, complex clinical situations, and the specific needs of patients in internal medicine and oncology.
· Respect for ethics, confidentiality and institutional values
· Ability to provide services in variable hours (nights, weekends) in a spirit of continuity of care and professional commitment.
