IRIS South Hospitals is looking for,

For the Sterilization Department

of the Etterbeek-Ixelles & Molière Longchamp sites in Forest

a Head Nurse (m/f)

On a full-time permanent contract

What does the job consist of?

The Sterilization Department deals with medical devices that can be resterilized in operating rooms, delivery rooms, care units and consultations; as well as ancillary material on loan. The team consists of 18 full-time equivalents.

As Head Nurse for the Sterilization Department, your mission will be to ensure the management of this unit and to guide the team. You will carry out your function in accordance with the institution's vision and ethical values, legislation, regulations and internal procedures, as well as the budget granted.

Under the responsibility of the Head Nurse, you will be required to:

- Manage your team:

- Set annual goals for your unit

- Coach, motivate, evaluate, detect the training needs of your team members

- Communicate information and decisions

- Manage conflicts and reframe your team if necessary

- Participate in the recruitment of sterilization nurses and auxiliaries

- Participate in the integration process of new hires

- Supervise students, in collaboration with ICANES

- Ensure the administrative management of your unit's staff:

- Establish, plan, encode schedules and holidays in the management software

- Manage and distribute your team's headcount as needed

- Plan staffing needs

- Propose improvements to the organization of the service

- Ensure the coordination and quality of care in your unit:

- Develop and adapt work procedures, ensuring quality development at each stage of the process

- Ensure contact with the operating room, doctors, consultations, pharmacy, purchasing department and biomedical department

- Participate in the coordination of processes related to the sterilization of medical devices, in line with regulatory, normative and institutional requirements.

- Collaborate with the pharmacy and the sterilization coordinator, for risk management, quality assurance,

Documentation and traceability (records, non-conformities, corrective and preventive actions).

- Collaborate in partnership, sterilization and pharmacy coordinator, in continuous improvement processes, internal and external audits, as well as inspections by the competent authorities.

- Be involved in the evaluation and introduction of new medical devices or processes, in consultation with the pharmacy and user services.

- Promote structured and proactive communication with the pharmacy and the sterilization coordinator to ensure a transversal and integrated approach to the quality and safety of care

- Participate in working groups and meetings related to your expertise

- Participate in the Office of the Head Nurses

How about we talk about you?

Your training:

- You are in possession of a Bachelor's degree (or Diploma) in nursing, stamped and registered by the Medical Commission of Brabant

- You have specific training in sterilization (or you commit to following the training within 2 years) and a minimum of 3 years' experience in a sterilization department/operating room.

- You have completed additional training related to team management (executive school or Master's degree). Candidates who have successfully completed the first year of the Executive School or the Master's degree can also apply

Your experience and knowledge:

- You have useful experience as a nurse

- You have proven experience in team management

- Training in sterilization techniques is an asset

- You have a good knowledge of the legislation concerning hospitals, the profession and the department

- You have a good knowledge of the second national language

- You have good computer skills (Steriline, etc.)

Your skills:

- You like to find solutions

- Your proven organizational and planning skills

- You are able to adapt and master difficult and stressful situations

- You have a developed analytical and synthesis mind

- You are able to easily make effective and efficient decisions

Remuneration based on IFIC scales (category 17) with resumption of seniority

  • Min: 4184.93 (index: 2.1223)
  • Max: 6425.5 (index: 2.1223)
