Job description

Happy Hours Market fights against food waste by repurposing unsold food from Belgian retail. Through our app and distribution network, we enable consumers to buy products at discounted prices while having a positive impact on the environment.

Our model is mainly based on the recovery and reuse of unsold products. In order to improve the customer experience and stabilize our offer, we want to develop a base of highly rotating complementary products, enriching the existing offer.

We are looking for an experienced person to structure and manage this strategic assortment, inspired by retail best practices while remaining adapted to our agile model.

🛠️ Your missions

1️⃣ Build the assortment base

  • Define strategic product categories to complement the existing offering

  • Build a simple, consistent and highly rotating assortment

  • Identify essential products that improve the average order value and customer experience

  • Structure categories (groceries, drinks, breakfast, snacks, etc.)

The objective: to create a stable and efficient assortment that fits into the model based on unsold products.


2️⃣ Purchasing management

  • Identify and develop a network of suppliers in Belgium and Europe

  • Negotiate purchase terms and volumes

  • Place orders and track supplies

  • Optimize margins and business conditions


3️⃣ Sales and inventory management

  • Analyze sales, turnovers, and product performance

  • Adjust purchase volumes based on demand

  • Manage stock levels to avoid excessive downtime

  • Ensuring a high-performance and cost-effective assortment


4️⃣ Analysis and commercial performance

  • Track key KPIs:

    • Product rotation

    • margin

    • Resale rate

    • Contribution to turnover

  • Perform product and category performance analyses

  • Identify opportunities to optimize the offer


5️⃣ Internal collaboration

Work closely with the teams:

  • e-commerce

  • Logistics

  • dirty

  • Operations

in order to adapt the assortment to operational and commercial realities.

Profile

We are looking for an operational, analytical and structuring profile.

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in category management, purchasing or merchandising

  • Experience in retail, FMCG, wholesaler or food distribution

  • Good understanding of product rotation and stock management logics

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to negotiate with suppliers

  • Autonomy and entrepreneurial spirit

  • Ability to build processes in a growing environment
