Job description

For the University's Financial Services, 3HR.be is recruiting a Head of the Accounting and Financial Control Department (M/F/X) on a full-time or 90% permanent contract after 6 months.
This function, which is both operational and strategic, combines the management of a team of 8 employees, the management of accounting activities and financial control, the optimization of processes and tools as well as the control of risks and regulatory compliance.
Your responsibilities
Under the responsibility of the Director of Financial Services, you will guarantee the reliability of financial information, you will play a key role in the production of financial statements, risk management and support for strategic decisions.
In concrete terms, you will be responsible for the following:
Accounting management
Supervise the keeping of general and analytical accounting, in compliance with the standards in force
Ensuring the quality, accuracy and punctuality of annual closes
Ensure the production of financial statements, management reports and legal declarations
Ensure the proper application of accounting procedures and their regular updating
Management and coordination
Supervise, support and develop a team of 8 people
Organize the distribution of tasks, plan deadlines and guarantee continuity of service
Promote skills development, autonomy and versatility within the cluster
Ensure effective coordination with the other Financial Services departments as well as with the various entities of the university
Develop financial and accounting support for the university community
Financial control and risk management
Contribute to the implementation and monitoring of the financial control system
Ensure reliable financial data and expense compliance
Contribute to budget monitoring and budget risk management
Identify financial risks, propose corrective or preventive actions and ensure follow-up
Ensure compliance with accounting, tax and regulatory standards
Prepare and support external audits
Process optimization and digitalization
Analyze and optimize accounting and financial processes to improve efficiency, reliability, and fluidity
Continue to automate and simplify processes
Participate in digital transformation projects: dematerialization, automation, evolution of the ERP, reporting tools, etc.
Propose and participate in the implementation of innovative solutions to improve information flows and reduce processing times
Lead or contribute to continuous improvement projects, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
Profile
You have a solid background in accounting and financial management, combined with proven managerial experience and an ability to change practices and tools.
Education and experience
Master's degree in Finance, Management, Economics, or a Master's degree in another field with proven experience for the position
Ideally 10 to 15 years of experience in accounting and financial management, including at least 3 years in team management
Experience in the non-profit sector is an asset
Good knowledge of general accounting and ideally of the accounting specificities of non-profit organisations
Excellent command of French (C2) and good level of English (B2), both oral and written
Management and collaboration
Mobilizing leadership, sense of pedagogy and ability to grow a team
Ability to organize, prioritize and coordinate activities, while promoting autonomy and accountability
Excellent interpersonal skills and ease in cross-functional collaboration
Ability to support change and evolve in a changing environment
Technical skills
Proficiency in accounting software, ERP/CRM, reporting tools and Excel (advanced level)
Analytical mind and ability to take a step back while remaining attentive to details and the search for concrete results
Taste for optimizing processes, tools, continuous improvement and achieving objectives
Personal qualities
Excellent writing and synthesis skills

A full-time permanent contract (38 hours/week), with the possibility of increasing to 90% after 6 months
After 6 months, the possibility of teleworking 2 days a week for a full-time job
20 days of annual leave
Annual closure between Christmas and New Year, supplemented by one or more additional days off depending on seniority or age
