Job description

As a deputy head nurse in the central sterilization department, you play a key role in the organization, coordination and quality of sterilization activities for medical-surgical equipment.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Assist the head nurse in the day-to-day operational management of the department.
  • Supervise, support and accompany team members (nurses, sterilization technicians, logistics agents, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with procedures for cleaning, packaging, sterilization, traceability and release of medical devices.
  • Participate in the development of cross-functional projects (hygiene, quality, internal training, etc.).
  • Ensure fluid communication between the teams and the various partner departments (operating theatre, pharmacy, care units).
  • Acting as a relay in the event of the absence of the head nurse.

Profile

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing recognized by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years' professional experience in a hospital environment.
  • A first experience in team coordination, central sterilization or in the operating room is an important asset.
  • A sterilization nurse certificate is an important asset. 
  • Additional qualification in management or training as a health executive (or in the process of being acquired) is a plus.

Skills:

  • Excellent organizational skills, rigor and sense of priorities.
  • Caring leadership, team spirit and communication skills.
  • Autonomy, initiative, proactivity and ability to manage the unexpected.
  • Knowledge of hospital hygiene standards and traceability.
  • Fluency with computer tools and software related to sterilization.

Languages:

  • Fluency in French (minimum B2 level).
  • Knowledge of another language is an asset.
