Speech and language guide - recruitment reserve (M/F/X)

Mission

To assess and treat patients/residents with speech and language therapy problems in order to improve the level of functioning of their communication.

Activities

• Establish speech therapy diagnoses in patients/residents concerning speech therapy disorders (e.g. communication, swallowing or learning):
  
  • Conducts examinations to observe skills, identify disorders and search for the cause of the problem;
  • Evaluates the results of examinations and establishes a speech and language therapy diagnosis by drawing up a report on all functions and aspects related to communication skills;
  • Discusses optimal treatment with other health care providers, as part of multidisciplinary consultation;
  • Informs patients/residents about examinations, disorders observed and recommended therapy and speech therapy supports;
  • Prepares the treatment (e.g. content and material) taking into account developments in specialisation.
• Treating patients/residents and monitoring their progress:
  
  • Treats patients/residents according to the prescribed therapy and motivates them to work on or manage their disorders;
  • Regularly evaluates the effects of the therapy and makes any adjustments on the basis of the working consultation;
  • Advises and informs all parties involved (e.g. relatives) of the evolution of patients/residents.
• Administratively follow up on the processing carried out:
  
  • Maintains an up-to-date report on each treatment performed;
  • Prepares reports for the various parties involved (e.g. relatives, specialists and professors) in which the condition and evolution of patients/residents are discussed;
• Other activities:
  
  • Performs outpatient consultations.

Knowledge and know-how:

• Training in accordance with the legal requirements for the performance of the function
• Specialization in a specific field is a plus
• Knows how to work with the necessary computer tools
• Familiarization period: 6-12 months
• Has listening skills
• Has the ability to report
• Knows how to communicate in a group in a clear and objective way and defend his/her point of view
• Provides information to patients/residents and their loved ones and motivates them during treatment
• Discusses, in the consultation of speech and language therapists and multidisciplinary work, the optimal speech and language therapy and multidisciplinary treatment
• Problem Solving:
  • Consults with colleagues and/or physicians on patient/resident issues
  • Establishes speech therapy diagnoses in patients/residents

  • From time to time, contact with contagious diseases
  • Working on a screen (<80%) is a requirement for the exercise of the function
