Educational Coach

Kras Jeugdwerk organises challenging activities in the free time of children and young people between the ages of 6 and 25. We are active with 9 activities in Antwerp's focus districts.

We are currently looking for an education coach. This is a replacement contract of at least 1 year.

Commission

In Antwerp, an average of 22% of pupils leave school without a diploma every school year. This is a pity for the pupil himself, but also for our society. Kras Jeugdwerk, together with JES vzw, CLB and Stedelijk Onderwijs, wants to do something about this. We are joining forces so that more young people leave school qualified.

A team of education coaches will work in a number of Antwerp schools with young people from the second and third grade of TSE/BSO/DBSO (double finality, labour market finality and dual) who are at risk of dropping out of school. Together with the student, we work on a future perspective, so that the student can stay motivated at school or switch to a different and more appropriate pathway. The student remains the owner of his or her own trajectory and we always work on a tailor-made basis. The student is at the heart of everything we do.

Educational Coach

Through individual guidance, you will coach young people (15-18 years old) who show signs of school fatigue. You will work in close collaboration with the young person, the teachers, the CPG and the young person's network. You will be supported by a project coordinator and colleagues within your own organisation. In addition, for this project you will work together with external partner organisations that ensure that the young person receives the integral support he/she needs. You are therefore a solution-oriented and flexible coach who works outreach inside and outside the school walls.

What you do at Kras:

• You will individually supervise young people (15-18 years old) who show signs of school fatigue.

• You work integrally so that the young people are empowered to take control of their life careers and obtain a qualification.

• You will work in close collaboration with the young person, the teachers, the CPG and the young person's network.

• After referral, you will start a tailor-made individual trajectory together with the young person and in consultation with the student counsellor (Lb).

• You contribute to a positive school context and look at it mainly through the eyes of the young person.

• You are a confidant for the young people in the school.

• You will work in one team with other education coaches and will be supported by your coordinator from Kras. He or she directs, coaches and evaluates you.

• You feel involved in the theme of young people and education in Antwerp.

• You can find your way in Antwerp's educational landscape and youth work. 

• You know the target group, know how to find them and guide them. You believe in the potential of every young person and you put the young person first.  

• You have experience in coaching young people in their development path towards qualification education.

• You can work independently and know how to build a network and switch between different parties.

• You handle confidential information discreetly.

• You are very eager to learn and open to feedback, you want to grow yourself.

• You report and identify in a timely manner where necessary, you are transparent about your work.  

Conditions

• You preferably have experience in education and youth work.

• We look at your professional attitude, commitment, education and relevant experience.

• You preferably followed a relevant education (Youth and Disability Care, Orthopedagogy, Social Work,...) This is an added value, not a requirement.

• Extract from the criminal record.

• Available for weekend/evening work.
