Today, we are looking for an Internal Auditor to join our Brussels team on a permanent contract.

How you will make a difference

In this role, you will be able to continue to develop your technical and personal skills. You will report to the Head of Internal Audit Banking (based in the UK) and work closely with all members of the international team.

Take action

  • Lead and participate in audit assignments in Belgium and within the Triodos Group. If necessary, limited travel will be required, taking into account work-life balance as well as the ecological impact.

  • Stay close to organisational developments (risks) by maintaining relationships with the business partners of the Triodos Bank Belgium branch .

  • Prepare high-quality reports on audit findings and assist management in defining actions to improve processes and internal control within Triodos.

  • Proactively provide input and integrate internal and external analysis into the annual risk assessment to identify and plan audits for the following year and 3-year cycle.

  • Provide management information and reports on audit processes, ensuring compliance with our standards of professional practice.

  • Become a subject matter expert within the Group's internal audit function, for example in a risk area (such as compliance, credit, operational risks) or in a digital area (such as data analytics, AI).

  • To promote continuous improvement within the department and across the Triodos Group.

  • Work as a team within the bank from different locations in a hybrid way.

  • Supervise and mentor more junior colleagues in carrying out audit activities, both technically and within the scope of work within the organization, including providing feedback to inform their personal development plans.

  • Acting as a role model for internal audit and Triodos, both internally and externally, for example through personal and professional networking, public speaking engagements, and professional and industry bodies.

The team

We are a team of 18 people working from Zeist, Madrid, Brussels and Bristol. We report directly to the CEO and our structure follows that of Triodos Bank. Through the development of Subject Matter Leaders, we are deepening our understanding and oversight of key risk areas within the Group. We adopt a learning mindset and aim to continuously improve ourselves and the way we work. We ask our customers to be open and transparent, and so are we.

This is complemented by:

  • An auditor (operational) qualification or be in the process of obtaining it, with approximately 5 years of relevant professional experience.

  • Excellent knowledge of English, French and/or Dutch.

  • The enthusiasm to apply your existing skills and learn new ones, as well as to deepen a specialization such as compliance, credit, operational risk or data analytics, AI.

  • Proven experience or desire to lead audit engagements as well as build good relationships with internal stakeholders.

  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively to prepare risk assessments, work programs, conduct audits, and write reports.

  • An organized approach to achieving goals.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and the feeling of comfort working closely together and interacting with all internal colleagues, regardless of their level in the organization.

  • Strong coaching skills for more junior team members.

  • A commitment to Triodos Bank's values and mission.

  • Experience working in an international environment is desirable; The willingness to travel and work in different cultural environments is a necessity (about 10 working days per year).

  • Previous experience or familiarity with Teammate+ audit software is a plus.
