For the day medicine service at the Etterbeek-Ixelles site,

A nurse specialized in oncology (m/f/x)

Under a fixed-term contract (1 year), part-time (80%)

The day medicine department mainly takes care of patients suffering from various oncological pathologies. The unit has 4 rooms and a common room with several chairs.

The team is composed of 2 oncologists, 2 hematologists, 4 nurses specialized in oncology, a secretary, a nurse coordinator in senology, 2 psychologists, 2 dieticians, a social worker, a physiotherapist and a beauty advisor and a wellness advisor.

The department is dedicated to the administration of different treatments:

• Chemotherapy treatments
• Targeted therapies
• Blood and platelet transfusion
• Biological treatments
• Bisphosphonate and immunoglobulin treatments
• Injectable treatments (antibiotics, iron and others)
• Technical procedures (puncture, biopsies)

What does your job consist of?

As a nurse specialising in oncology, you will take care of patients in the day hospital and ensure that their treatment runs smoothly, from arrival to departure.

In particular, you will be required to:

· Welcome, assess and prepare patients before their treatment.

· Take samples and monitor the results necessary for the treatment.

· Prepare and administer oncology treatments in accordance with prescriptions and protocols.

· Ensure rigorous patient monitoring and respond quickly in the event of complications or emergencies.

· Assist the doctor during certain technical procedures.

· Inform, listen to and support patients and their loved ones, with empathy and kindness, even in the most difficult situations.

· Guarantee the continuity and quality of care through effective communication with all professionals.

· Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and ensure rigorous traceability of care.

· Transmit and share your expertise in oncology with colleagues, support new employees and supervise students.

· Continuously develop your skills in order to stay at the forefront of developments in oncology and new therapeutic practices.

Your education

· You hold a Bachelor's degree (or Diploma) in nursing, approved and registered by the Brabant Medical Commission;

· You hold the legal title of nurse specialized in oncology.

Your experience and knowledge

· Experience in a day hospital or oncology is a real asset;

· You have practical knowledge of oncological pathologies, treatments and their side effects;

· You have a good knowledge of Dutch: You are able to understand the patient's needs and communicate with your colleagues.

· Your computer knowledge allows you to ensure optimal follow-up of files.
