A Nursing Assistant (m/f/x)

      Under a part-time fixed-term contract (80%) 

What does the job involve?

The T31 unit is a 26-bed infectious-oncological medicine unit. As a nursing assistant, you work in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team consisting of nurses, logistics assistants, secretaries, physicians, dietitians, physiotherapists, social workers and students.

You assist the nurse in the areas of care, patient education and logistics, and perform the acts delegated to you, in compliance with current legislation. You contribute to comprehensive, humane and secure care for each patient. Thanks to your sense of observation and listening skills, you identify and communicate to the nurse any relevant information concerning the patient's condition.

The T31 is a pilot unit of the C.A.R.E UP! project, in which the organization of nursing work has been rethought to better distribute the workload and enhance everyone's skills. As such, you actively participate in the organization of the day and consultation within the team.

Your main missions include in particular:

·      Checking and preparing the care trolleys;

·      Taking vital signs and performing delegated acts;

·      Special attention paid to patient hygiene, comfort and well-being.

Your manager, your team and your environment

·      You will be supervised by Anne Spillebout, head nurse, and Mélisandre Vander Elst, deputy head nurse

·      You will join an 18-person team consisting of nurses, a nursing assistant, a logistics assistant, and a secretary.

·      You work within the T31 unit at our Etterbeek-Ixelles site located at Rue Jean Paquot 63 in Ixelles.

Your training

·      You hold a nursing assistant diploma certified and registered by the Brabant Medical Commission. Training in the 23 delegated acts is mandatory.

Your experience and knowledge

·      Prior experience in a care unit is an asset, but recent graduates are also welcome.

·      You have a good knowledge of Dutch: You are able to understand the patient's needs and communicate with your colleagues

·      Discretion, integrity and respect for confidentiality: You strictly respect professional secrecy and the confidentiality of patient information, demonstrating ethics and reliability in keeping and sharing patient record information.
