Job description

Joining our growing bioconversion unit, you will work closely with our Lead Bioprocess Engineer  to optimize our innovative bioprocesses and design the future scale-up plant . This internship is a hands-on, high-impact opportunity, placing you at the intersection of engineering, science, and sustainability.

You will be involved in the preparation of our first demonstration plant and contribute to realizing our vision for a fully circular commercial biorefinery.

Under the direct supervision of the Lead Bioprocess Engineer, your tasks will include, but are not limited to:

Process optimization: 

  • Implement experimental trials at lab scale (DOE), collect and perform data analysis.

  • State your conclusion and bring your recommendations on the process design 

  • Submit new ideas to investigate.

Process Design:

  • Participate in design reviews for equipment, layout, and safety protocols for the demonstration plant.

  • Help identify bottlenecks and propose rapid iteration solutions to optimize performance.

  • Support the management of the construction and operation of the textile recycling demonstration plant.

  • Translation and Scaling: 

    • Assist in the translation of patented bioprocesses (fermentation, separation, purification) from lab/real-world environment to small-scale production systems, with a focus on scalability aspects.

  • Documentation and Operational Support

  • Assist in creating documentation and systems for future operational scaling (SOPs, manuals).

  • Support coordination with external partners for specific engineering tasks.

Profile

Education: Student pursuing a master's degree (or in the final year of engineering school) in process engineering, chemical engineering, biological engineering, biotechnology or a related field. 🎓

Technical skills and interests:

Strong understanding of fermentation principles and DSP (Downstream Processing) methods (purification, filtration).

Familiarity with laboratory scale-up concepts at pilot/industrial scale.

A keen interest in engineering applied to agribusiness or bioremediation/biofuel solutions.

General Skills

  • Ability to iterate quickly, excellent problem-solving skills, and comfort in thriving in a fast-paced and ambiguous startup environment.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
