Victoria Lavenne & Sandrine Belgrado - Boentje Café - Behind the scenes of Brussels' first zero-waste café
For this episode, I have the chance to record with a duo of founders, and not the least!
Sandrine Belgrado and Victoria Lavenne opened the first zero-waste café in Brussels for Christmas 2017: the Boentje Café. And spoiler alert, they closed it for Christmas 2023.
So it all started when Victoria, after a good ten years of friendship, made Sandrine a "business proposal" as she calls it. As you can imagine, Sandrine accepted and they decided to open their own café.
The first learning of the episode was that they had the good idea to test if their friendship duo also worked just as well at work. And after a few months of working together as baristas, they took the plunge.
On the program of this episode:
You're going to have proof once again that communication is the key to alignment. Sandrine and Victoria explain in concrete terms the methods they have put in place as well as the partners' agreement they drafted at the launch of the project.
We talk about the motivation that takes you when you launch a project and you want to give yourself 7 days a week, then the evolution of this motivation and in their case, the permission they have given themselves to turn the page and start a new chapter.
Finally, we are obviously talking about HoReCa and more specifically in Brussels and the reality of this sector, from its excellent sides to its more complicated sides such as the management of private life, the permanent mental load, the replacement of sick employees and so on.
In short, quite a program!
Obviously I'm biased but these 2 hours of recording with this shock duo did me good and they clearly managed to communicate their energy to me.
I hope it will be the same for you!
Hi and welcome to Donne le Rythme, the podcast about Belgian entrepreneurship.
I am Thimothée Remy, a professional coach, and I support those who want to start as a freelancer or move forward more serenely in their entrepreneurial project.
With this podcast, I create a space to get to the heart of the subjects. Through my episodes, you will discover the journeys, the successes but also the struggles of my guests. And above all, you will understand how they actually launched their business.
Over the course of the conversations, they really open up, without filter. In any case, that's still my goal!
Belgium is full of entrepreneurs, inspiring talents that I can't wait to introduce to you.
Thank you for listening and all you have to do is set the pace!
