Speech Therapist - recruitment reserve (M/W/X)

Mission

Assess and treat patients/residents suffering from speech and language disorders in order to improve their level of communication functioning.

Activities

• Establish speech therapy diagnoses in patients/residents concerning speech and language disorders (e.g., communication, swallowing or learning disorders):
  
  • Perform examinations to observe skills, identify disorders and investigate the cause of the problem;
  • Evaluate examination results and establish a speech therapy diagnosis by drawing up a report of all functions and aspects related to communication capabilities;
  • Discuss optimal treatment with other healthcare providers as part of multidisciplinary consultations;
  • Inform patients/residents about examinations, identified disorders, recommended therapy and necessary speech therapy aids;
  • Prepare treatment (e.g. content and materials) taking into account developments in the specialization.
• Treat patients/residents and monitor their progress:
  
  • Treat patients/residents according to the prescribed therapy and motivate them to work on or manage their disorders;
  • Regularly evaluate the effects of the therapy and make any necessary adjustments based on work consultations;
  • Advise and inform all concerned parties (e.g. relatives) on the progress of patients/residents.
• Handle administrative follow-up of treatments performed:
  
  • Keep a record of each treatment performed;
  • Draw up reports for the various parties concerned (e.g. relatives, specialists and professors) discussing the condition and progress of patients/residents;
• Other activities:
  
  • Perform outpatient consultations for patients.

Knowledge and skills:

• Training complying with legal requirements applicable to the performance of the function
• Specialization in a specific field is a plus
• Ability to work with necessary IT tools
• Familiarization period: 6-12 months

• Able to communicate clearly and objectively in groups and defend their point of view
• Provides information to patients/residents and their relatives and motivates them during treatment
• Discusses optimal speech therapy and multidisciplinary treatment within speech therapy and multidisciplinary work consultations
• Problem solving:
  • Consults with colleagues and/or physicians regarding patient/resident-related problems
  • Establishes speech therapy diagnoses in patients/residents
