Job description

🎯 Ensure the smooth operation of the sleep laboratory, including the preparation, performance, and interpretation of polysomnographic tests, the initiation of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) devices, and the follow-up of outpatients to contribute to the quality of sleep disorder diagnosis and the improvement of patient health.

🚀 Tasks:

  • Perform and monitor polysomnographies in the evening or daytime sleep studies.
  • Analyze and interpret collected data to assist physicians in diagnosing sleep disorders.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment (material management) and ensure its proper functioning.
  • Train and supervise new technologists and trainees.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality protocols.
  • Initiate continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) devices and manage outpatient follow-up.
  • Patient Preparation: Welcome patients, explain procedures, and prepare them for sleep studies, which often includes placing sensors and electrodes on the body.
  • Conducting Sleep Studies: Supervise and perform polysomnographies, which are detailed recordings of various physiological parameters during sleep (such as brain activity, eye movements, muscle tone, respiration, and blood oxygen levels).
  • Monitoring Sleep Exams: Observe patients during sleep, often through video monitors and by reviewing real-time data, to ensure recording quality and respond to any immediate issues (such as breathing difficulties or unusual movements).
  • Preliminary Data Analysis: Review sleep recordings to identify sleep stages, respiratory events (such as apnea), periodic limb movements, and other anomalies.
  • Collaboration with the Medical Manager and Coordinator: Work closely with sleep specialists to provide accurate and relevant data that will help establish a diagnosis and plan treatment.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that all equipment used for sleep studies is properly calibrated and functioning correctly.
  • Patient Education: Inform patients about good practices to improve sleep hygiene and, when necessary, instruct them on the use of therapeutic devices such as continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machines for the treatment of sleep apnea.

  • Excellent technical skills and attention to detail for handling complex equipment.
  • Ability to work evening shifts and adapt to variable schedules.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and medical staff.
  • Analytical mindset to interpret sleep data and provide accurate reports.
  • Optimal computer literacy.
  • Empathy and sensitivity to work effectively with patients and ensure their comfort and support.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills to ensure efficient activity coordination, equipment tracking, and patient record management.
