6-month Maternity Cover (Full-Time or 4/5, starting late March)

StartLab.Brussels is looking for a Content & Communications Officer to bring our communication strategy to life, create compelling content, support key internal events, and strengthen our community. You will play a central role in implementing StartLab’s communication activities and ensuring our community remains active, engaged, and energized.

This role is ideal for someone who is organised, creative, people-oriented, and excited about building a vibrant entrepreneurial community.

Your Mission

As Content & Communications Officer, you will be responsible for the operational implementation of StartLab’s communication strategy developed together with the Communications & External Relations Manager. You will create content, manage our online channels, support internal events, and cultivate a strong community vibe.

Key Responsibilities

1. Implement Communication & Content Activities (35%)

In close collaboration with the Communications & External Relations Manager

  • Execute day-to-day communication tasks across digital and print channels.

  • Create engaging written and visual content for social media, newsletters, website, and campaigns.

  • Maintain the content calendar and ensure timely publication.

  • Format visuals, templates, and brand assets in line with StartLab’s branding guidelines.

  • Ensure all content is coherent, visually appealing, and aligned with the communication strategy.

2. Manage Online Community & Digital Presence (20%)

  • Manage StartLab’s social media accounts (Instagram), ensuring high engagement with efficient campaigns.

  • Write and design newsletters, highlighting community stories, events and updates.

  • Keep website content up to date and engaging; support improvements to content structure and SEO.

  • Monitor analytics across channels and adjust content based on performance insights.

3. Internal Community & Events (25%)

  • Lead the planning and implementation of internal events: networking moments, open days and informal gatherings.

  • Propose new formats to strengthen community engagement and collaboration.

  • Support internal communication, ensuring members are informed and connected.

  • Maintain a positive, welcoming atmosphere within the coworking space.

4. Event Support (20%)

  • Provide operational support for larger StartLab events (external/flagship events).

  • Collaborate on event promotion and content creation (photos/videos).

  • Ensure smooth organisation and memorable experiences for participants.

Profile

Your Profile

  • Degree with at least 2 years of proven experience in communication, marketing, digital media or a related field.

  • Skilled in social media management, content creation and community engagement.

  • Strong writing skills (copywriting, storytelling).

  • Familiarity with website management (Webflow), SEO, Capcut, Canva or other creative tools is a plus.

  • Passion for entrepreneurship and enthusiasm for working with early-stage founders; entrepreneurial experience is a plus.

  • Strong command of English; good knowledge of French and/or Dutch. English is the working language at StartLab.Brussels. Please submit your CV and motivation letter in English.

  • Organised, proactive, creative, and people-focused.

  • Able to work independently while collaborating closely with the Communications & External Relations Manager.

  • Flexible to attend occasional evening events and activities outside office hours.

Conduct of interviews

The selection process will include two interview rounds:

  • Pre-selection: February 19–20

  • Interviews: February 26 – March 10

    • First round: interview to assess motivation, experience, and alignment with StartLab’s mission and ways of working

    • Second round: interview including a practical case related to content and communication

  • Final decision: Candidate selected by March 13

The selected candidate is expected to start around March 23.
