Content & Communications Intern
Job description
Internship (3/5 or 4/5 - starting March)
StartLab.Brussels is looking for a Content & Communications Intern to support the marketing and communications team during a key transition period. You will mainly contribute to social media management, the redesign and implementation of the newsletter strategy, while supporting day-to-day communication activities.
Your Mission
As Content & Communications Intern, you will support the operational implementation of StartLab’s communication activities, working closely with the Content & Communications Officer and the Communications & External Relations Manager.
Your role will focus primarily on social media and newsletter strategy — while contributing to the overall consistency and visibility of StartLab’s communication.
Key Responsibilities
1. Social Media Management (40%)
In close collaboration with the Content & Communications Officer.
Support the management of StartLab’s social media accounts (LinkedIn and Instagram).
Actively contribute to the social media strategy, including proposing and co-defining the editorial calendar
Plan, write, edit and publish content in line with the editorial calendar.
Create engaging copy and assist with visual content creation (Canva, short videos, templates).
Monitor performance and engagement through existing monthly reporting templates, and suggest content optimisations
Ensure consistency in tone of voice, messaging and branding.
2. Newsletter Strategy & Implementation (30%)
Contribute to redefining StartLab’s newsletter strategy (target audiences, objectives, frequency, formats).
Clean, organise and segment the existing newsletter database.
Conduct a basic benchmark of newsletter tools and market practices.
Write, format and send newsletters
Create and implement a new reporting template for newsletters and track monthly performance indicators (open rates, click rates).
Propose improvements based on analytics and audience engagement.
3. Communication, Reporting & Content Support (30%)
Support content creation for communication campaigns, programs and events.
Assist with updating online content when needed (website, announcements, internal communications).
Contribute to bi-annual reporting for key funders, including detailed reports on StartLab’s activities and results.
Provide general support to the communications team depending on ongoing priorities.
Profile
Student in communication, marketing, digital media, journalism or a related field.
Strong interest in social media, content creation, digital communication, and reporting.
Excellent writing skills in English; good knowledge of French and/or Dutch is a strong plus.
Organised, proactive and detail-oriented.
Creative, curious and eager to learn.
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team.
Interest in entrepreneurship and innovation is a plus.
Familiarity with Canva, Capcut, social media tools or newsletter platforms is an asset.

Practical Information
Internship must be carried out within the framework of a school/university internship agreement.
Unpaid internship.
Reimbursement of transport costs, upon presentation of valid proof.
Conduct of interviews
The selection process will include the following steps:
Pre-selection: February 16–20
Interviews: February 23–27
One interview round, including a short practical case related to content creation and communication
Final decision: Candidate selected by February 27
The selected intern is expected to start on March 9.
