For the Internal Medicine department at the Etterbeek-Ixelles site,

A Nurse (m/f/x)

For a full-time open-ended contract (part-time possible min. 19h/week)

What the job involves

Unit T31 is a 26-bed infectious disease and oncology medicine unit. As a nurse, you work in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team composed of care assistants, logistics assistants, secretaries, physicians, dietitians, physiotherapists, social workers, and students.

You ensure comprehensive, humane, and secure care for patients facing complex and sometimes emotionally heavy pathologies. You provide nursing and technical care in accordance with medical prescriptions, assess patients' health status, anticipate at-risk situations, and intervene autonomously in emergencies while awaiting the physician. You prepare, administer, and monitor treatments, adapt medical devices according to clinical evolution, and assist the physician during specific technical procedures.

You ensure the comfort, hygiene, nutrition, and support of patients throughout their care journey, from exam preparation to the organization of discharge or transfers. As a key player in the continuity and quality of care, you ensure data traceability, contribute to the care plan, and collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team.

Beyond technical care, you play an essential role of listening, information, and support for patients and their loved ones, particularly during moments of vulnerability, diagnosis announcement, or distress. You also participate in the supervision and training of students, in compliance with quality standards and the hospital's values.

T31 is a pilot unit of the C.A.R.E UP! project, in which nursing work organization has been redesigned to better distribute workload and value everyone's skills. As such, you actively participate in the organization of the day and consultation within the team.

Your main missions notably include:

· Ensure the quality and continuity of care: provide technical, relational, and educational nursing care adapted to patients' needs, in compliance with protocols, safety rules, and the quality approach.

· Exercise a clinical leadership role: coordinate care delivery in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, participate in clinical decisions, and propose improvements in practices and department organization.

· Supervise and support students and new staff members: ensure onboarding, tutoring, knowledge transfer, and competency assessment during internships, with a focus on professional development and quality of care.

Your manager, your team, and your environment

· You will be supervised by Anne Spilleboudt, Head Nurse, and Mélisande Vander Elst, Deputy Head Nurse

· You will join a team of 18 people consisting of nurses, care assistants, logistics assistants, and a secretary.

· You work within unit T31 at our Etterbeek-Ixelles site located at Rue Jean Paquot 63 in Ixelles.

· Ability to work independently while fully integrating into a mindset of collaboration, mutual support, and co-responsibility within the unit.

· Ability to transmit knowledge, supervise nursing students, and support new colleagues by adopting a pedagogical, caring, and structured posture.

· Spirit of initiative in identifying clinical and organizational issues, with a constructive approach oriented toward continuous improvement of practices.
