Job description

The position of Management Controller will be held within the Budget Unit of the Department of Financial Administration (DAF) of the ULB, which is responsible, among other things, for establishing the University's budget and annual accounts.

 Essential missions:

1: Monitoring of budget implementation

  • Systematic monitoring during the year of the implementation of the University's budget.

  • Analysis of the consistency of expenditure and income in relation to the budget.

  • Analysis of available balances of operating budgets and project budgets, including monitoring of cross-cutting budgets.

2: Implementation of budgetary control procedures

  • Drafting of control and coherence procedures for the different budget lines. 

  • Implementation of these procedures and follow-up of these controls.

3: Participation in the annual closing

  • Participation in the annual closing of the accounts by analyzing variances in relation to the budget.

  • Interactions and support to the accounting department to ensure good accounting in line with the University's budget.

4: Budget support

  • Support to the person responsible for drawing up the budget: assistance in gathering the information necessary for the preparation of the budget, the consolidation of budget requests, the preparation of budget presentations, the analysis of completeness and coherence, ...

  • Establishment of specific budget projections through analysis of expenditure and revenue during the year.

5: SAP Key User

  • Management of master-data in SAP to ensure completeness, quality and consistency in the monitoring of the University's expenses and revenues.

  • Participation in the improvement and simplification of the various reporting tools in order to facilitate the analysis and justification of the accounts in relation to the budget.

Profile

  • Hold a master's degree in management/accounting recognized by the FWB.

  • Persons with a foreign diploma and/or with an equivalence from the Flemish Community, must obtain an equivalence of their diploma from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation: (equivalences.cfwb.be/index.php?id=486).

  • Have a minimum of 2 years of practice as a management controller / financial analyst.

Knowledge and skills required :

  • Analytical and synthesis skills.

  • Sense of organization, rigor and precision.

  • Good oral and written communication.

  • Be solution-oriented.

  • Proficiency in computer office automation tools (in particular Excel). Knowledge of SAP is an asset.

  • Good management of stress and situations under pressure.
