Job description
Context
Since November 2023, 25 people of different nationalities (Belgium, DRC, Angola, Guinea-Conakry, etc.) and different administrative statuses (Belgians, applicants for international protection, undocumented people, etc.) have been accommodated in a temporary collective accommodation system in Watermael-Boitsfort.
The objectives of the project are to:
Facilitating access to care and the law, in a global approach to the person
To initiate and experiment with new approaches to social work and housing, relying on the people welcomed as the driving force behind the collective dynamic and the co-management of the premises.
Promote and streamline exchanges between actors (public authorities, voluntary sector, civil society), in order to improve the unconditional care of vulnerable groups in Belgium
To mark our action in a longer time, in order to draw up a structural and realistic response to the problem of the reception of migrants and accommodation solutions for precarious populations
Missions
In collaboration with the other members of the site team (coordination, technical management, social logistics and community mediation), your mission will be to create conditions conducive to warm collective accommodation, as well as to the development of an organization of the place by the inhabitants themselves.
Your place of work will mainly be in Watermael-Boitsfort.
Your mission will be to:
Welcoming people, supporting them in their installation and their appropriation of the premises
Updating internal administrative documents related to their hosting (OneDrive, Excel, etc.)
The creation and monitoring of processes to facilitate internal procedures and procedures
Supporting people in their efforts to access care and rights through information and referral to appropriate structures
Support for community life in the area (setting up collective assemblies, information sessions, etc.)
Support for the implementation of socio-cultural activities, in conjunction with partners in the neighbourhood or elsewhere
The development and constant improvement of practical solutions related to the collective life of the place (organization and management of spaces, implementation of collective rules and processes, etc.)
Participation in the observation of the living space and its collective dynamics in order to develop the project according to the needs and desires of the inhabitants
The person's mission framework may have to evolve according to the experience of the project. In view of the particular context of the implementation of this project, the team's missions could indeed be required to adapt to the reality on the ground and the issues identified. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with a framework under construction and who knows how to adapt :)
Profile
Skills in administrative management and ease in the use of digital tools (onedrive, excel, word)
Ability to be part of a work environment that is qualified as much by urgency as by experimentation with innovative and alternative approaches to housing
Know how to prioritize levels of importance and urgency
Have a sense of listening and empathy but know how to show emotional distance in difficult situations
Adaptability and responsiveness in unexpected situations
Ease and appetite for teamwork, ability to be transparent in communication
Great autonomy, organization and rigor in the management of his missions
Fluency in Arabic (Moroccan) in addition to French and/or English is an asset
Sharing Communa's values and philosophy
The +:
A first experience in a similar function and/or in the social or migration sector
A good knowledge of the reception network in Brussels and the operating principles of the Belgian administration, as well as the Brussels social-health network
