Job description
As a genetic counselor, you will have a key role in supporting patients and their families, mainly in the field of oncogenetics. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team (medical geneticists, social nurses, psychologists and genetic counsellors) to provide personalised advice on genetic risks.
Key Responsibilities:
You conduct consultations independently, mainly in the context of oncogenetics.
You prepare consultations for the various health professionals involved in the patient's follow-up.
You establish contact with patients in order to fully understand their expectations and clarify the questions that lead them to consult for genetic counselling.
You will carry out an accurate and appropriate genetic risk assessment for each patient.
You will provide patients with clear information tailored to their needs, explaining the possible choices while integrating the risks, benefits and limitations of the different options.
You will integrate into your assessment and support the individual involvement, family histories, as well as the beliefs and cultures of the patients.
You will assess the specific needs of the patient receiving genetic counselling and provide the necessary support, ensuring that they are referred to other resources when appropriate.
You will be responsible for documenting the information collected and writing a detailed consultation report.
You will be required to extract and use medical and genetic information to integrate it appropriately into genetic counseling.
You will also participate in research and teaching projects.

Profile
Qualifications and experience required :
Holder of a Master's degree in genetic counselling (issued by the national system of origin or by the European Board of Medical Genetic (EBMG)) or a Master's degree in biological 🎓 sciences
A bachelor's degree or equivalent master's degree is accepted
