Fatima Ftaich - VIDYA - From anxiety attacks to entrepreneurship, Fatima's fabulous destiny

Episode description
French

Waw! That's what I said to myself as I hit the "REC" button as I finished my interview with Fatima Ftaich, co-founder of VIDYA with her husband Gregory Dahan.

So VIDYA is, I quote, "Your ethical and sustainable shop that offers you the best or nothing." Beautiful words that I take the time to dissect anyway to really understand the impact they want to have and the one they really have.

But above all, and I've already said it for some episodes, it's really straightforward. Here, I think I have reached the heights of transparency and honesty when it comes to both his private and professional life.

  • She talks about all the beliefs she has developed about entrepreneurship and especially the fact that after 8 years of roller coasting, a lot of them have been questioned.

  • Fatima talks about her burn-out, her anxiety attacks, her insomnia. In short, about her mental health and how she has learned to find a balance and is trying to maintain it.

  • She shares with us all the mistakes they made with VIDYA: financing their uncontrolled exponential growth with debt instead of looking for other forms of financing, mixing friendship and work and the challenges of laying off workers when it was necessary for the survival of the company, taking a bigger warehouse because the company was growing when it wasn't necessary.

  • And then, a little nugget, she explains in detail what the PRJ is, the judicial reorganization procedure, which VIDYA has just followed in order to reduce its debts to its suppliers and the State and to spread their repayment over time. It is a little-known procedure and especially one that entrepreneurs want to avoid because it is frowned upon when it can save and clean up a company.

It's an episode where we take the time so you too, take the time! Take advantage of it, it's summer. Don't hesitate to cut it up, to listen to it while running, walking, cycling, on transport.

And I hope, let yourself be transported by the story of Fatima.

About the podcast

Hi and welcome to Donne le Rythme, the podcast about Belgian entrepreneurship.

I am Thimothée Remy, a professional coach, and I support those who want to start as a freelancer or move forward more serenely in their entrepreneurial project.

With this podcast, I create a space to get to the heart of the subjects. Through my episodes, you will discover the journeys, the successes but also the struggles of my guests. And above all, you will understand how they actually launched their business.

Over the course of the conversations, they really open up, without filter. In any case, that's still my goal!

Belgium is full of entrepreneurs, inspiring talents that I can't wait to introduce to you.

Thank you for listening and all you have to do is set the pace!
