Medicine, bac+10 and life balance: the other side of the journey of a gynecology intern

Episode description
French

In this episode of Mille Parcours Pro at the microphone, I welcome a young woman at the end of her gynecology-obstetrics residency who opens the doors to a complex journey, which we sometimes never dare to dream of. For many, becoming a doctor is a genius, what if it wasn't entirely true?

We look back on his path to medical studies, the doubts encountered, the difficulties, the successes and the reality behind a journey that requires many years of study. But we also talk about a subject that is less talked about: work-life balance, as well as ambition as a doctor.

Because even after a bac+10, you may want work not to take up all the space. We discuss his vision of ambition, the fact of building a career that suits us and the importance of defining our own priorities.

We also talk about the breaks she has chosen to take in her journey: why slowing down is not always going backwards, how taking a step back sometimes allows you to move forward better and why asking the right questions can be essential.

We also address the place of humility in the medical profession, the clichés around medical studies, the reality of the field and everything that we don't always see from the outside.

An episode that will speak as much to people attracted to health studies as to those who wonder how to build an ambitious career without forgetting the rest of one's life.

Disclaimer: not everyone experiences health studies and the medical course in the same way; This episode does not sell dreams: it only tells the story of a journey and the truth of a person who has chosen this path.

If this episode speaks to you, remember to share it with others 💙

I wish you a good listening ear

About the podcast

The podcast Mille parcours pro au micro germinated in my head for several years. Since 2022, I have been brainstorming on this project, which makes a lot of sense to me. Time passed and I didn't dare to take the plunge. Then, in 2025, during a conversation with my nephew, this spark was ignited again. He had just obtained his baccalaureate and was completely lost on his future. We talked for several hours, my only objective being to reassure him and give him confidence, everything was going to be fine. Following these discussions, I got back to work. Gradually, a draft of the project took shape. With no particular technical knowledge on the subject, I started in January, constantly repeating to myself "better done than perfect". 3 months later, 10 episodes have been published and many more are to come. The target audience is between 15 and 25 I would say, they are looking for themselves, are asking themselves questions about their future, are afraid of making mistakes and wonder how to start a career. Parents, teachers and caregivers of young people are also an important target of this project. The ultimate goal of this podcast is to have a library of lots of different jobs, that we don't always suspect and/or for which we don't really know the missions, to have access to a lot of different careers to have lots of testimonies to identify with, and to discuss in a sometimes a little more philosophical way during solo episodes always on the world of work.
